Souvenir de St. Anne’s (Earthkind)
This sport of ‘Souv.de la Malmaison’ was discovered in the garden of st. Anne’s, a property of Lady Ardilaun near Dublin. Graham Thomas tells us that it was preserved for many years by Lady Moore of Rathfarnham in Dublin. This rose has fewer petals than its parent and stands up better to rain. It is also more fragrant, the scent residing, according to Thomas, in the many stamens. It makes a very bushy 4 – 5 foot tall shrub.
