Etoile de Hollande
This rose has been a popular rose for nearly 80 years, and is still widely grown. The flowers are bright red and fairly double, with 30-35 petals that are cupped at first and later open to large, full blooms. There is a very strong, true Damask fragrance. The foliage is rather soft, mid-green and not over-abundant on a moderately growing open plant. Many new red roses have been introduced with gusto and then disappeared from commerce, but this one is still seen in most large rose collections. Its color, velvety texture and perfume are its great attributes.
